(1) Chairman Opens Meeting:
The chairman opened the meeting with sad news of the previous secretary, Monty Slocombe’s passing. Thoughts and memories of his stalwart work for this committee and the many other causes he has supported over the years were fondly remembered. Those attending stood for a minute’s silence for both Monty and Patricia Dickman who also passed away recently. A memorial fund for Monty has been started and currently stands at £570.00. An additional £200 has been donated. The family are happy for a memorial bench to be sited at Wynn gardens in his memory.
(2) Apologies:

(3) Police Report:
A written police report from the community police officer was read. A significant number of incidents involving anti-social behaviour, public safeguarding and nuisance issues have occurred in the last month at various locations in the village. After a robust discussion members are requested to call the police and keep the committee updated on any further issues. Long delays when dialling the police non-emergency number have been noted. PCSO Naomi Hill has been very helpful.
(4) Treasurer’s Report:
£736.35 Events £174.04 Association cash Total £910.39 This is the lowest sum for quite some time and attendees are requested to donate into the Association ‘pot’. Our Treasurer, Brian Cossey will attend a meeting on the promenade with the Welsh Government member Ken Skates regarding further funding to complete promenade protection at Rotary way. Additionally, Brian represented this committee at CCC regarding the issue of parking charges on Old Colwyn promenade, following this meeting the issue has been referred to cabinet.
(5) Peulwys Fields:
A report on the consultation is due this June.
(6) Active Travel:
There is a meeting of Conwy council. Matter is ongoing.
(7) Lifebelts Promenade:
Ongoing
(8) Litter Pick:
To be discussed at next meeting. The Town council have equipment available.
(9) Unused Building Mochdre:
Ongoing
(10) 20mph Speed Limit:
CCC have the results of the recent consultation and funding is available from the Welsh government to make any changes.
(11) Defective Speed Limit Signs:
Both radar activated speed signs in the village are now operational.
(12) Bird droppings under A55 underpass:
Rotary way underpass bird droppings mess has been cleaned, however it is building up again due to roosting feral pigeons.
(13) Any other business:
(a) Plas Gwilym Quarry
A new application for the disposal of up to 250,000 tonnes of waste hardcore has been made. Cllr’s Cheryl & Gail updated the meeting and the way the issue will be opposed. There are noise issues, traffic issues in the vicinity of Llysfaen road entrance to the quarry as well as a lack of pavement. Further information at the next meeting.
(b) Parking Queens Road
It has been reported that there are car transporters & other large vehicles being parked in the vicinity of Queens Road and Heenan Road. It was felt that checks on the tax & insurance of these vehicles be done.
(c) Parking Wynn Avenue
The camper van, which occasionally moves to Meriadog road is causing residents a nuisance as well as being a hazard to buses and other vehicles. Funerals cars at the church are particularly affected. The police appear not to be interested. It was noted that the vehicle is currently partially parked on the pavement. Cllr Cheryl will chase up.
(d) O C prom parking charges
Following a recent meeting, the matter has been passed back to the cabinet. It appears that parking policies across the county are inconsistent and the fight to retain free parking in this area will continue. Our local councillors are working hard on our behalf.
(e) Pedestrian Safety OC Prom
Safety rails at the blind spot at the arches. It was felt that we should ask to see a copy of the ‘Road safety audit’ for the area.
(f) Berthes Road CP
Crest donation containers. These bins are not being used properly and it felt that they should be removed.
(g) Glan Y Don
Ongoing plans to convert the old council HQ into a boutique hotel. No sign of any work progressing on teh site recently.
(h) Apologies Next Mtg
Apologies for next meeting from Cllrs Cheryl and Gail due to council work, as well as Secretary Tony Anderton who is away on holiday.
