(5) Peulwys Sub-Committee:
Secretary compared affordable local housing situation with the era before Addison Act, 1919 where local authorities were obliged to build our first council homes, subsidised, for local residents. Tan y Lan estate was one of the first. In 1979 Council housing was sold off to tenants. Today, we are in the same position. Our young local people are priced out of buying or renting property and there are few affordable homes. All planning legislation and national advice urges local authorities to protect valuable agricultural land by using existing brown sites and empty buildings in the first instance yet Conwy County Council’s planning strategy is ‘an uplift in land value to encourage sales’. Meanwhile, (unaffordable to local people) housing is advertised worldwide. Noted that yet more land has been sold in Colwyn. Will there be yet more housing estates?
(6) Graffiti Project:
Excellent work achieved here. As Treasurer explains above, he has supplemented the Graffiti Fund from other sources in order to meet the full expected cost.
(7) Active Travel:
No further news.
(8) Litter Pick:
To be arranged in the spring.
(9) Unused Building Mochdre:
No change here. It seems that rate payers are stuck with a faulty contract with which the other party will not amend.
(10) Defibrillator:
Now up and running on promenade. It was thought that some strategically placed signs directing people to the end of the prom. could be useful. The defibrillator at Queen’s Court was recently used, but unfortunately unsuccessful on this occasion.

Cllrs. Cheryl, Gail and Neil have made objections regarding the proposed parking meters on the prom. Cheryl has also made representation concerning safety rails at the sharp turn from prom. to the arches travelling east. She has also pointed out that there is no disabled parking facility near this point.
